September 2011

Fall time is marching forward. The 100+ temps are finally dropping (the high today will be 83, hurray!) We had 70+ days of triple digit temperatures!

Tyler’s birthday was a week ago. He has suddenly matured a lot . He is physically a full head taller than kids his age, and just seems so old. We had a pool party for him with the cousins, it was very sweet of everyone to come. We had cupcakes and opened gifts and played some games. The water was COLD (strange!) so the swimming wasn’t that great, but hopefully he felt special. He requested strawberry crepes for breakfast, then he wanted to go to the castle park nearby, which we did. We gave him his gifts before bed. I can’t believe he’s 5. Happy Birthday to my little man!

He told me the other day after preschool that he wanted to do “big boy” stuff. I feel bad. Though the kids in his class will be in his class at school, he seems SO much older than them. Well, he is, close to a year older. I know he longs to be with older kids. I know he longs to progress. I guess I need to do more than the reading lessons and maybe get into some fun science stuff with him. Maybe start a playgroup with other, older kids?

Anslie started a co-op preschool with her friends in the ward. On Thursdays she and four other little girls get together for a fun afternoon together. She is sweet and soft. We’ve been focusing on speaking nicely lately, and I feel like she is trying harder and is quicker to de-escalate when she’s mad. She is socially very confident. We saw a police officer in Walmart, Tyler started begging me to take her over to him (200 ft away). By the time Tyler had finished his sentence, Anslie had made a beeline to the officer, introduced herself, and was telling him all about her family and her life. Just talking his ear off. No inhibitions there. It’s a
talent, it will be fun to see it develop.

Tucker. I wish there were words for how wonderful a baby is. His thighs are so doughy and soft. He’s recently learned how to carpet swim across the room, pushing with both arms and legs. He’s determined. He smiles at EVERYTHING. He goes right to sleep, eats well, and makes the sweetest cooing and shrieking sounds you’ve ever heard. He is our little piece of heaven on Earth and we all adore him, he makes every day and every moment brighter for all of us. How Heavenly Father must love us to let us care for these precious, tender, spirits! I also love enjoying Tucker with Freeman, knowing that he adores Tuck as much as I do and is amazed by the sweetness of his spirit, which only parents can feel to the full degree.

The house has been on the market for 3 weeks. I’m learning how to keep a clean house despite having 3 small kids at home!

We have a discovered a new cleaning technique that is incredibly successful. We put Tucker on the floor and he starts carpet swimming towards an item on the floor. Tyler and Anslie scream and run to pick it up before he gets there, then put it away. He turns to another item, and the whole process starts again. Its adorable. And the toy room gets clean in 5 min. flat.
